The Admin username is created as your first username by default when you install WordPress. It’s also the first username that all the bad guys try. Here’s how to add a new username and get rid of the Admin one.

Tip:  Always use strong passwords which include upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.

  • Go to Users > All Users and select Admin.
  • Change the email address for Admin.
  • Go to Add New and enter a new username and your preferred email address. You can keep the same password if you want.
  • Select the Role dropdown box and choose Administrator.
  • Sign out.
  • Sign in with your new username and password.
  • Go to Users > All Users and delete the Admin username.

How many plugins are too many?
