The Admin username is created as your first username by default when you install WordPress. It’s also the first username that all the bad guys try. Here’s how to add a new username and get rid of the Admin one.
Tip: Always use strong passwords which include upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Go to Users > All Users and select Admin.
- Change the email address for Admin.
- Go to Add New and enter a new username and your preferred email address. You can keep the same password if you want.
- Select the Role dropdown box and choose Administrator.
- Sign out.
- Sign in with your new username and password.
- Go to Users > All Users and delete the Admin username.
